Madeira is a fortified wine made on the island of Madeira and Henriques & Henriques is the largest independent producer of Madeira, a privately owned company dating back to 1850. Verdelho has a long-standing association with Madeira - it was one of the original varieties brought to the island and is one of the four recognised styles of this wine, the others being the dry Sercial, the medium-sweet Bual and the sweet Malvasia (Malmsey).
