Geno is produced by the acclaimed Fundacao Eugenio de Almeida, who are located in the Evora sub-region of the Alentejo. Geno portrays the Alentejo farmer, wearing a typical hat and red scarf. Geno is a nickname used in Alentejo for a young farmer. Bordering to the north by the Tagus River and Algarve to the south, the Alentejo region derives its name from Alem Tejo, which literally means ‘beyond the Tagus’. It is one of the most dynamic wine regions in Portugal. The Evora sub-region is known for its hot, dry conditions and the wines are typically robust and multi-layered with good acidic balance. The Geno wine specifically come from vineyards that have a high granite content which imparts great freshness to the wines.
